The mission of the United Methodist Church is "to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world." Here in the Eastern Sierra this looks like walking the path of discipleship with Jesus - feeding the hungry, serving the poor, caring for our neighbors (yes, all of them), and working together to make the world a better place for all.
To that end we, in conjunction with the United Methodist Social Services (501c3), offer a variety of ministries in addition to Sunday worship, to serve our community:
Shower facilities are available free of charge on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30am - Noon at Bishop UMC Methodist Center. All are welcome, towels and toiletries are provided.
Offering free meals to anyone in the community on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at the Bishop UMC Methodist Center.
No reservation needed
All are welcome!
Study Fellowship Groups
Study Fellowship groups are opportunities to delve deeper into how we can live out our calling as followers of Jesus. Here is where we can ask difficult questions, share where we struggle, and find community as we wrestle with how our ancient faith renews itself to bring the good news to each and every generation.
Bible and Study groups are listed on the Events page.
An outgrowth from our need to manage the Soup Kitchen food waste so as to not impact the landfill, the Psalm 8 project provides education, resources, and support to our community with worm composting.
Please check the Events page for Psalm 8 workshop dates and events.
Sometimes life is just hard.
