Worm Tea

Worm tea is one of those simple, almost magical tools that fits beautifully with the way you care for soil and plants.  It is essentially a liquid extract made by steeping high-quality worm castings in water, sometimes with a gentle aeration process.  This draws out the beneficial microbes, enzymes, and soluble nutrients that make castings so powerful.

The result is a living, microbe-rich solution that feeds the soil food web rather than just the plant, which is exactly the kind of holistic approach you already champion.

Gardners and landscapers use worm tea because it delivers fast, gentile nutrition while boosting soil biology.  When applied as a soil drench, it helps improve nutrient availability, root development, and overall plant vigor.  The microbial diversity in the tea supports healthier soil structure, better moisture retention, and more resilient plants.  When sprayed on leaves, it can also create a protective microbial film that helps plants resist certain foliar diseases without harsh chemicals.

In a broader landscape setting, worm tea becomes a way to maintain long-term soil health.  It encourages earthworms, supports organic matter breakdown, and reduces the need for synthetic fertilizers.  for anyone trying to build a thriving, sustainable garden ecosystem, it is a low-cost, high-impact amendment that works with nature rather than against it.

Worm tea is packed with trillions of living organisms that require a steady stream of oxygen to survive.  Our tea is brewed for twenty-four to twenty-eight hours to facilitate rapid growth of the organisms.  Once the brew is taken off the oxygen source, the organisms begin to diminish.  Therefore, it is important to use your tea as soon as possible after purchase.

We commend using it within the first 24 hours after purchase.

Fresh Worm Tea is available at the Thursday Farm to Table Market at the Bishop UMC from 4pm - 7pm.  It is also available on Saturday mornings from 8am - Noon.
